This print is part of a suite that depicts my transformative journey in the Amazon rainforest during the Fall of 2023. I traveled to Brazil with a retreat hosted by Amazon Watch, and I immersed myself in the sacred beauty of the Amazon, where one-third of Earth's biodiversity resides. Amazon Watch is an organization that supports Indigenous land defenders standing up to extractive industries, and I joined their board in late 2022.

Moved by the resilience and power of Indigenous communities along the Tapajos River, I had the honor of meeting incredible leaders like Alessandra Korap of the Munduruku tribe. Her courage in the fight against corporate exploitation earned her well-deserved global recognition.

A highlight of my trip was visiting a Munduruku village, where the young girls sang songs about defending the earth. Witnessing the awareness these children had about the fate of their land was truly inspiring. These collages capture the vibrant landscapes, connections with Indigenous leaders, and the incredible biodiversity that left an indelible mark on me.

It's crucial for artists to amplify the Amazon's plight; the rainforest is at a tipping point, threatened by agribusiness, fossil fuels, and mining. We all will be impacted by what happens to the Amazon, the most biodiverse rainforest in the world which we share a continent with. Let's stand together for the lungs of our planet!
