There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

This piece is about the power of art to transform and enrich communities. The work reflects a guitarist, a young singer, a dancer, and a writer. Through their cultural practices, they are both creating culture and keeping artistic traditions alive. The background in this work is a photograph of city hall layered on top of one of my monotype collages. This piece was commissioned by the San Francisco Public Art Commission to celebrate the 2008 Neighborhood Arts Festival. It was reproduced on posters and distributed throughout the city of San Francisco, as well as put up in the kiosks on Market Street.
