In Hiding

Collage on Archival Paper
22 x 15 inches

This piece marks the first time I have created a collage composition with a single tone of color. In the majority of my pieces, I use a wide range of highly saturated colors. I'm a colorist and I love to push my palette in new directions. But in this piece, I focused more on the shapes to explore how they looked layered upon one another. One day as I was putting away my art supplies, I noticed how each shape rested on another shape in an unplanned beautiful way. I sought to recreate that in this composition. The singular gray tone helps guide the focus to the overall shape.
