Ancestral Gold II
Corn is sacred. It has nourished the peoples of Turtle Island (Abya Yala) for generations, shaping our cultures, histories, and the foods that sustain us. But corn is also a site of struggle. As transnational corporations like Monsanto continue to challenge Indigenous seed sovereignty, communities across the region have fought to protect this sacred seed as a source of identity, survival, and resistance. This series honors the power of corn through large-scale works inspired by Peruvian weaving traditions, celebrating both ancestral knowledge and the enduring fight to protect what sustains us.
