Welcome To Your Life Act VIII

I developed this woodblock edition based on particular set of creative rules I set up for myself, such allowing for chaos in the carving of the wood, foregoing clean borders, and letting go of any expectations I had for the final piece. A quote that inspired the production of this woodblock was by Jack Kerouac who said, “I do not let my mind come in between my heart and my hands.” The character in the piece is in the midst of transformation and is experiencing both it’s feminine and masculine dimensions.

The title for this piece is the opening line from one of my favorite songs by the 80’s band, Tears for Fears. The song’s title is “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”
