Red Desert Sunset

This work is part of a series of wood panels in which I was experimenting with various textures to create bold portraits. Each portrait is composed of patterns and icons that were printed on large sheets of colored paper. Through linoleum block printing,I experimented with how my shapes could be reorganized into patterns. Each character is an imaginary person in my imagination, represented by various elements from my culture, including the chile, the fists and the maiz (corn) textures. My goal with these pieces was to see how far I could push the various textures and patterns in my work to create characters that have depth.
