This piece was also printed in a very small run of about 10 prints. I was visiting Mexico City in 2006 and I took the opportunity to meet up with my colleagues from El Faro Centro Cultural. It is there that I printed this piece, with the assistance of my friend and student Sombra. This piece is named after him. Sombra is an extremely talented printmaker, but like many of his peers, he lives at the poverty level in Mexico City and has to spend most of his time surviving. He was one of my best students in the workshop I taught in 2005 during my stay in Mexico City.
As we were printing. the emulsion kept falling off the screen, so we were only able to print a few of these. At one point, I could no longer print the red hand, so I had to spray it on with a stenciled film.
